On May 10th, 2010, a Torah scroll was solemnly presented to the Poklonnaya Hill synagogue in Moscow. The ceremony was timed to the 65th anniversary of the victory over Nazism. The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) President Alexander Mashkevich and the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC) President Yuri Kanner brought the Torah scroll into the synagogue in memory of the Jews who were heroes and victims in World War II. The ceremony was organized by the EAJC and RJC, and prepared by the "Gift of Torah" Fund.
