Israeli police are holding the parents of a 16-year-old Bedouin girl who attacked a border police base.
Basma Awad al-Nabari, from a Bedouin town near Beersheba, on Saturday afternoon opened fire at police at the base bear the Negev's Tel Shoket junction. Nabari continued to shoot a handgun after hiding under a nearby fence before she was shot and killed by police, according to Israel Police investigators.
A court on Sunday extended the remand of Nabari's parents because it is believed they knew she intended to launch the attack and did not stop her or, in fact, assisted her.
In a search of the family's home, police said they found notebooks in which Nabari wrote that she wanted to be a martyr to avenge the deaths of Palestinians during Israel's recent Gaza military offensive. More weapons were found, according to reports.
