Vandals at Large in Pskov

Sebezhskiy district Department of Internal Affairs of Pskov region filed a criminal case according to the article 244.1 of the RF Criminal Code (defilement of the dead bodies and their places of burial) because of desecration of 18 graves in the Jewish cemetery.
In March, unidentified vandals desecrated 18 graves, including the Jewish and several Christian Orthodox burial places. The gravestones were broken, wreaths and crosses destroyed and burnt.
A local citizen filed an appeal to the police concerning the desecration of graves on the cemetery on March 30, 2009. The crime was supposedly committed after March 9, because up to this date, according to the applicant, burial places had been in order.
