MFA of Russia Condemns Ahmadinejad's Statements about Israel
22.04.2009
Russia's Foreign Ministry identified the statements of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Geneva, who called Israel "a standard-bearer of racism" as "harsh
and unbalanced."
On Monday at the UN conference on racism, held in Geneva, a scandal erupted after the Iranian leader in his speech said that "Israel had been established under the pretext of the suffering of Jews during the Second World War, and now
it is trying to create a racist government in the occupied Palestine."
After these words, the delegates from a number of European countries showed their protest by leaving the room. It should be noted that Russia presided at this conference, and it also made the largest financial contribution (600 thousand dollars) to its organization.
