Lithuanian Seim deputies appealed to the General Prosecutor's Office of the country, demanding to begin pre-trial investigation in respect of the Association of Lithuanian Jews in Israel, the "DELFI" portal reports.
Recall that the site of the Association had published the names of Lithuanians who had participated in the genocide of Jewish people. This list, containing almost 3000 names, included the people who are considered heroes in Lithuania - the participants of anti-Soviet resistance.
The documents also contain the names of the relatives of famous people in modern Lithuania. "We are outraged by the defamation of the honoured people in Lithuania, which is spread by the so-called 'Association of Lithuanian Jews in Israel.' These are the well-known Lithuanian partisans - Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas, Lenginas Valyukyavichus-Dzukas, Juozas Barzdas-Bradauskas, Juozas Lukshas-Daumantas and others," reads the statement of the "Motherland Union - Lithuanian Christian Democrats" parliamentary fraction.
Members of the Seim call on the President, the Foreign Ministry and other government institutions to resort to diplomatic measures in order to prevent the spread of unfounded accusations and stirring up discord.
