Armenia to open an embassy in Israel in 2003.

                  28.11.2002

"CetnrAN" information agency has announced that Armenia is planning to open an embassy in Israel in 2003. Opening the embassy is quite an unexpected step, for until very recently there have been some serious disagreement between these two countries, because Israel refuses to recognize Turkey to be guilty of the genocide of Armenian people, despite the demands from the part of Armenia. Currently, the interests of the official Yerevan in the State of Israel are represented by a non-resident ambassador, who visits the country occasionally.
"CentrAN" reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia is holding intensive talks with the municipality of Tel-Aviv on the matter of acquisition of a plot of land for the future embassy building.
